Success!

I had a very successful day of Math Centres. What I did notice was that it is difficult to get everything in during a 60-65 minute block. We do calendar routine every math class and my students would lose it if I stopped it, so we need to keep going with it. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes out of our math class (never mind getting settled after recess/gym/DQPE and the other things we have before math). So I may need to tweak it and even take away a centre in order to get everything in.

Today we did 10 minute centres. Being able to give a lesson to students with only 3-4 students at a time was absolutely amazing. They were able to learn so much more in such a short amount of time. This was clear when I marked their Math Work. The students loved the centres and because it emulates what they do in Language in the morning, it went pretty smoothly.

The only station that caused some discord was the technology centre. I planned for SmartBoard games, but this required my EA to be in charge of the station. This one may have to be revamped or will be the station eliminated if necessary for time.

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my station cards and schedule as well as students working well in the stations (hopefully!).
