Busy Bee!

My first week with math stations is almost complete. I feel like it has definitely made a difference with my students. They are leaving the guided reading/math table with a better understanding of the concepts. The only one we have been struggling with is Math Journal. My students struggle with reading and writing and therefore, are having difficulties working on WORD problems independently - even if I read them the questions. So now I need to make the necessary alterations to the journal questions and make them easier to read and understand. I am trying to foster some independence in the students as they tend to be very reliant on the teachers/EA's for support. Their confidence in their own abilities is lacking a bit and I am fighting tooth and nail to get them to realize they are able to read the questions and more importantly, understand what they are reading! Other than that, the program is going well and I am excited for the successes my students will have because of it!
