Wow! That went fast!

My apologies for not posting lately. My father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer on May 1st and it was a whirlwind since then. He passed on June 6th and we've just been going through the motions a little bit. The good news is that I am officially done teaching for the year! Today was my last day. This group of students were definitely trying, but ultimately we had a great year and I will miss them.

As a teacher in Ontario and with the new "Regulation 247", occasional teachers have not had our staffing yet for any permanent positions or long-term occasional positions yet. Every occasional teacher who applied to be placed on a "Ready to Hire" list, will receive an interview in July. The interview consists of a 10 minute presentation about ourselves, followed by 20 minutes of questions from two principals. The bottom line is that I won't know if I have a teaching job more than supplying until August. The province is trying to implement more fair hiring practices basing our hiring on our interview, qualifications, as well as seniority. It's really uncertain right now if I will have a steady job for September or if I will be supply teaching. Either way, I know I am fortunate to work and I love my job teaching so I will take it however I can get it. Obviously, a permanent full-time teaching job is my ultimate goal.

This summer will be spent creating activities and packages that can be used through a multitude of grades, specifically 1-6.

Have a great summer!!!
