Oh, how things change!

Summer came and went I did not get any jobs.... including the one I had been promised by my principal! (WTH?) So, I had embraced another year of supply teaching with the goal to make sure I got in at different schools and away from my previous one that landed me nothing.

My last ditch effort came last week when 2 more jobs were posted. They were LTO's again, but that was OK. My husband's principal, in an effort to apologize for NOT helping me at staffing, offered to email those principals to promote me as a teacher for these jobs. Last Wednesday, the postings came down. Last TUESDAY, I received a phone call from a principal I know at an entirely different school. He informed me that he has an afternoons position he needs to fill and would I like to come in and talk to him about it. Um, yeah!

So Wednesday I went to his school and met with him. The position is actually a .6 (which equals 3 days a week). Most of this job is teaching the afternoons in grade 1/2 and a friend of mine is the regular classroom teacher who is coming back from maternity leave wanting only to teach mornings this year. Perfect. The second part of the job is a .1 position to cover prep. They moved things around so that I am actually giving my friend prep coverage to limit the number of teachers going in that room. So basically, for the entire school year, I am teaching from 11:30-3:10 every day in a grade 1/2 class and team teaching with a girl who has become a friend of mine over the past 2 years. It couldn't be more perfect!

My goal this year is to be the best darn grade 1/2 teacher out there!
