I'm sitting at our grade 8 grad last night and the VP asks me to sit down and talk to her. She informs me that the people who received permanent positions at staffing were people who have LTO experiences at a few different schools. Then she informs me that there are still postings coming out and that 2 LTO's at this school are still to be posted. She then tells me that she has suggested to the principal that I get a .1 LTO in grade 3. What this means is that I would only get one 1/2 day a week of guaranteed work. Obviously there would be a lot of supply days as well, but here's the downer - this would prohibit me from being able to apply to any other LTO that comes up during the school year.
So after talking to my husband (also a teacher with the board) and telling him my concerns, this is what I have decided to do. If I get offered the .1, I'm going to just seek clarification from my principal about the confusion I have. My conversation with them is that I need to get LTO experiences in other schools, but then they offer me a position that prohibits me from getting that experience. I will ask honestly what they think I should do and see what they say. I can always turn down the .1 LTO, but apparently you get an X next to your name as having turned down an offered position.
I literally just received an email that the additional LTO postings as well as 3 permanent jobs are being posted either today or tomorrow. It looks like I will have an answer probably next week as to how this is all going to unfold. Fingers crossed!
